Series Two; Intimacy.

14 Sep Series Two; Intimacy.

Last Sunday we continued with our new series “Conversations with God”. The principle we discussed is

this: “God is waiting to meet with us close-up and personal. He longs to reveal Himself to us and include

us in His plans as a true friend.”

We talked about Moses who met God face to face and developed a beautiful, intimate relationship with

God through regular conversations with God. The book of Exodus is worth reading to see how Moses

engaged closely with God. Exodus 33:11 says “The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one

speaks to a friend.” Wow!!

We often talk about God being our Father. But He also longs to be a close friend, the kind whose

company you always enjoy and who shares his/her deepest secrets with you. As you build that intimacy

with God, not only will He guide you, He will also bring you into His plans: He will show you the things

that break His heart and the things that make Him laugh.

One way people define intimacy is “into me you see”. That’s how we should engage with God: go to him

with no hidden agenda, no masks and no pretense. Just free to be exactly who we are and allow Him to

deeply see us.

We also shared some practical ways to build intimacy. The key is to make time in your day to just enjoy

God’s presence undisturbed. Find a way that works for you – whether it’s an early morning

conversation, quiet time on the beach, a long walk or time alone as you travel to work or school. As you

develop that intimacy you will learn to hear His voice as He seeks to guide you and converse with you –

just like He did with Moses.

Here are some points to ponder as you develop your own intimacy with God:

1.   God wants to reveal Himself to you – He is not just a faithful Father but a loyal friend.

2.   Though God is Holy He is approachable and has made a way for us to come to Him without fear

because of the death and resurrection of Jesus. We can boldly approach Him because we have been

made righteous by Jesus.

3.   God is aware of our struggles and wants to partner with us and help us. He is waiting to give us

instructions and divine strategies. Download His wisdom every day!

Verse to meditate on this week – short and sweet: “Come near to God and He will come near to you.”
